Lacemates is an Aussie Invention to eradicate electrical tape from our sports fields.  Electrical tape is currently used by sports like Soccer, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Aussie Rules, Hockey, Baseball & Grid Iron, to retain the boot laces and on socks to keep them up.  Some players also use electrical tape around the top of the arms to hold their shoulder pads in place.

The Lacemate set will totally replace electrical tape, it is an environmental idea developed by Lisa Louden at Woy Woy on the Central Coast of N.S.W.  Lisa has been involved with many sporting committees as she is the mother of three boys who all played sport.  She found the problem facing small sporting Clubs and schools was fundraising, so she decided to make this product just for the Clubs and Schools so they can raise funds for much needed sports equipment.  

Please think about how much electrical tape is being used for this purpose world wide.  We are living in a disposable society, not thinking about how long this electrical tape takes to break down in the ground.  Lacemates can be used over and over again.  Infact our trials show that Lacemates will last two full seasons of training and game play even though they look a bit tatty at the end but they still work.

The electrical tape is causing problems with the Council grounds, Councils are now looking at putting a levy on the Football Clubs to clean up the tape after the games.  Warringah Council is leading the way and if this is allowed to happen the levy will be passed down to parents by way of increased registration fees.  This will be a shame as parents already struggle to put their children in sport and cover the costs of uniforms, boots and transport to training and the games.  The government wants us to encourage our children to leave the television and computer games and get outside for physical sport and exercise, but what will happen is, parents just won't be able to afford to put their children into sporting teams.
